Squirrel Population in NYC’s Central Park
This is a map of squirrel population in the New York City’s Central Park along with all the Wi-Fi locations in the city. The squirrel data is obtained from this Squirrel ArcGIS Tutorial on GitHub forked from the original Building an ArcGIS Online Web Application by Katherine Walden from Grinnell College. The initial project is published in on the NY Times Squirrel Interactive.
As one can see in the legend, each squirrel icon on the map represents a squirrel and its primary fur color, and each blue icon represents a Wi-Fi location. One can zoom in and out of the map, and the legend specifies the count of each type of figure on the screen.
